Most “wool” sauna hats on marketplaces are polyester felt, 1 to 2 mm thin. This one is sheep’s wool, wet-felted and stitched by hand, thick enough to hold a layer of still air around your head at 190°F.

Why would I wear a hat in the sauna?
Heat rises — the air around your head is the hottest in the room. A thick wool hat insulates your head, preventing overheating and dizziness, so your body can comfortably stay in the heat longer. It's a centuries-old tradition in Finnish saunas and Russian banyas.
Is it really 100% wool?

How do I care for my sauna hat?
Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, reshape and air dry away from direct heat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. With basic care a felted wool hat lasts for years.
Does new wool have a smell?
Natural wool can have a light lanolin scent out of the box. Air the hat out for a day and it fades after the first few sauna sessions — it's a sign of real, untreated wool.
Can I use it in a steam room or infrared sauna?
