What the bell shape does well

• Air pocket on top. The dome sits a little above your crown rather than hugging it. That gap is extra insulation, and it's the reason a bell hat feels noticeably cool on the top of the head, where heat from the ceiling hits first.
• Covers the ears and forehead fully. The band comes down low, so the parts of your head that tend to feel the sting first are tucked away.
• Easy to pull down. When the löyly gets aggressive, you can tug the Classic over your eyebrows and ears in one motion and ride it out.

What the brim does well

5. You have a lot of hair and want to keep it from drying out. Either. Both shapes cover the hair fully, and wool's tendency to slow heat transfer is what helps hair retain moisture in the first place. The Classic gives long hair a bit more room to be tucked up inside.

A note on wool, whichever shape you choose

People sometimes ask whether shape matters more than material. It doesn't.
